I know with mixed fuels for two-strokes I can't use older gas because the stabilizers breakdown after a time, but does that apply to the old truck too?
I've got 20 gallons of gas (stored in a metal can in an unheated shed, so I'm guessing its got quite a bit of water) that is about one year old. Can I just add some dry-gas or acetone to it, or will it still make the carb sick?
thanks
PC, I would go ahead and use it in the truck, but add some dry gas, and then mix it with fresh gasoline already in the truck's tanks. I would use it up 5 gallons at a time, mixed on top of 10 gallons or more in the tank. I have mixed several times, and always been just fine. I did try and start my truck with 6 month old fuel in the tank, and it didn't even spit or pop. Adding about 5 gallons of fresh fuel started the truck and the rest of the tankfull burned normally.
