I was wondering how difficult is is to install a Lock-Rite LS on the front and rear of my SD. Also is it worth it, or should I just go with a Detroit LOcker or E-Locker? I have the visteon 10.50 LS rear and Dana 60 front. Thanks
I have a 2000 CC SB V10 with the Sterling in the rear and a Dana 50 in the front. Just installed 4.88 gears with me existing 33 inch tires. The rear was built with an Eaton Posi and a Lock-Rite in the front. Finally removed the ESOF front hubs and replaced with Warn Premuim Manual hubs.
The Eaton is quiet, and the tire are always hooked up, they bind on dry asphalt to the point of a hop or chirp - and then everything is good.
Before the install of the Warn Hubs, my front end would remain enganged on one side. this was evident by witnessing the front drive shaft turn as the ESOF was in 2 wheel. The Lock-Rite makes a lot of noise when the front wheels are locked and you are on dry asphalt. Even on hardpack gravel/rock ou can hear the Lock-Rite roll over on the gears. It is not a unit that I would want in the rear.
Now, when the hubs are locked and the truck is in four high - all four wheels are hooked in any conditions while off of dry asphalt. When the hubs are unlocked, the truck drives better than it ever did and I never hear any noise front or rear.
With this set-up I have amazing feel for the road while in the dirt.
