02 Expedition missing

I recently drove a 2002 Expediton (that doesnt belong to me) 200 miles and i noticed that when going up a hill that it hesitates. My first impression is that its something with the spark plugs. The check engine light is on and it flashes when it starts to hesitate. But i cant check the code on it because my brother is hard headed and wont let me take somewhere to do that. The SUV has 143,000 miles and i am assuming that nothing has been done to tune it up since my brother is not mechanically inclined enought to do anything about it. Would you let me know if im headed in the right direction with this? I want to rule out any fuel problems.

Sounds like you have a misfire, it is most likley a C.O.P.; Other problems could be the plugs, or plug wires. But getting the trucked scanned would save time and money in finding the correct problem, especially if your check engine light is flashing. (I just went through this 3 weeks ago, flashing engine light, loses lots of power going uphills.) Hope this helps your out, in finding your problem.

Thats what is was thinking myself. Ijust wanted hear of what somebody might of thought. I will try to get him to take it to see what the code reader says. Thanks.
