I tried this on my truck this weekend. All of the cylinders were within 1 or 2 degrees of each other except one, which was 10 degrees low. Is that enough to say its bad? It was the front passenger side port. Which cylinder is that? Does a bad injector tick like a lifter noise?
It is not uncommon to have either one of the front exhaust ports to be a bit colder due to the fan blowing on them. Typically 10 degrees is not enough to condem an injector.
Recently, I had my truck in with a problem which was causing my engine to lose power monentarily. It ended up being the Cam sensor, but during thier diagnostics they encountered some performance issues with the #8 fuel injector. It was not enough of an issue to recommend replacing the injector, but they referenced a Ford bulletin which spoke of problems with the #8 injector. Not having any supporting reason to replace the injector I said no, but I am curious if anyone has heard of such a bulletin. If not, maybe I can find out where they got thier information.
I believe #8 fires after #6 on the same oil rail, so it usually fires at a bit lower rail and fuel pressure. Getting a HPX line will help and eliminating the air from the fuel system will definately quiet the engine down. But I have heard of more problems with #8 than any other injector, this might be why

is your truck a 99? bet it is and the issue is fuel cackle and they replace the #8 injector with a "long lead" injector which is supposed to take care of the problem. not really a performance issue but a noise issue.
also it will be help to the forum if you file out the signature section with the vitals of your truck (ie the year, model, drivetrain, engine mileage and other doodads you may have added.
