hey everybody i have a question. ive got a 91 Bronco 4x4 with a 5.8 in it. i got in it yesterday and it wont start. the key turns all the way over but nothing happens. the battery is good. my first thought was the ignition switch. so i replaced it. but it still does the same thing. my next thought would be maybe a starter problem but that just doesnt make sense it doesnt even try to start. i replaced the starter solonoid less than a month ago so thats not the problem either. could it be something in the column? my horn and cruise control stopped working about a month and a half ago. also it wont shift out of park now. any suggestions would be great. thanks
Will she start using the ol' bypass-the-ignition-switch-with-a-screwdriver trick? This will at least narrow things down to wiring in front of the solenoid if it works. The next step would be to check for voltage at the small wire on the solenoid by disconnecting it and connecting a meter or testlight to the wire and a decent ground. If the lamp lights or the meter indicates voltage when the key is turned to the "start" position then the problem is the solenoid. If not, the next step backup the electrical circuit is the MLPS or the neutral safety switch depending upon which transmission is in the truck. Back up the line from there is the ignition switch.

I know it might seem obvious but check all your fuses, even use an ohmeter on them to make sure there aren't any hidden breaks in them.
Since you mention you can't shift out of park it makes me think fuses, but also check to see that your brake pedal switch isn't goofed up since that detects you're stopped (I hope) and tells the little relay in the column to permit you to shift out of park.
I also agree with checking the voltage at the solenoid but try this, disconnect your battery cables and clean the posts and re-attach. I've seen numerous times where the connections "looked" good but wouldn't allow the starter to turn. On one such occasion a group of us were going camping, stopped at a gas station and my buddy's truck wouldn't turn over. First thing that happened to come to mind was disconnect/reconnect the battery terminal leads and (luckily) that did the trick.
ok here we go...yes it will start if you jump the solonoid with a screwdriver. and as far as the brake switch goes you dont have to have the brakes on to shift in and out of gear. the thing that really puzzles me tho is that when you turn the key all the way over to start then when you release it the key should go back to the RUN position......it doesn't.
Seems your ignition switch died. Since it doesn't return to "Run" from "Start" the mechanics took a dive in the switch internals. That's why you can jump the solenoid but not start it by key.
As far as a replacement, I don't know where to get one. Stealership perhaps?
