Now sometimes lately I get like a double firing of the initial startup :
CRANK - VAROOM - (pause for a second )-VAROOM - RUNNING @ IDLE
When you fire off a 7.3 you get that initial RAP well mine is like RAP ( pause ) RAP then idle. Like it's firing off then nothing then firing off again real quick?
Don't know how else to describe it. Any ideas on what causes this?

My guess first is the CPS, then I would pay attention to your keyswitch, maybe jiggle it each time. Ever do this while driving??
try letting you glow plugs warm up longer. what temps are you seeing right now. mine does that when its cold. i have heard people call it the romps. let you glow plugs warm for about 30 seconds longer and i bet it won't do it.
walt1968 ... yea I was thinking cam sensor going out too but I'm not sure. I will have to check switch operation too.
tjbeggs ..... It doesn't do it like first thing in the AM. It's after it gets fully up to operating temp then cools off halfway or almost to cold mark. Temps here in FL are low 80's mid 70's. Seems to happen in the middle though between normal operating temp and cold.
79-f250custom.... naa it's not tired... lol. I don't have to crank it over twice. It fires off twice in a row. BAM, BAM then idles fine.
