about a year ago, I had a large amount of timing trouble on my 86 460, which thanks to this site, I found the trouble to be the outer ring of my hamonic dampner sliping which in turn gave me a flase timing reference. I bought a used one on e-vil-bay. A few months later that on is slipping the ring too.
(sounds just like a fan belt squacking).
Ok, now, has this happened to anyone else? Or could this be an indicator of some dis-harmonic mayhem going on? Is the remedy as simple as buying a "new" (non-used) dampner? my engine is plain-jane, street/work truck, intake and carb..

You want to go with a new damper. Try damperdudes.com Dont continue to drive it with a bad damper cause you can break the crankshaft from out of control harmonics.
I bought a new one from Car Quest a year ago for $89. Something like that it is crazy to try and save a couple of buck buying used. There is no real way to know if the used one you bought hasn't slipped before you got it.
