Oh yeah, got some pics in the gallery, no big-overdone mods just a black truck with some nice CHROME
Looks really nice!
That's the same truck I looked at here the other day except for the color. The one I looked at was Darkstone and they also had a white Champions edition.
What about the exhaust on that truck? Does it have a nice sound and does the tip do anything other than look nice?
exhaust is just a tip, but for a 4.6, has a nice sound when you're standing outside the truck...Get a tow package if you think you'll need it!!!Took patriots badges off the day I got it.
I bought a 2006 F150 screwXLT started with 15.0 adv getting 18.1 now have 2000 miles on it but i am easy on pedal. Now if i can get my dealer to fix the vib in the tires I will be ok. For anyone who has a 2006 Lariet or XLT SCREW do you feel every bump in the road . Man is my suspension tight. Nothing like riding in a $35,000 tank. Would like to know how if some of you have the same ride. It seems Ford sure screwed up when they changed the body style since 2004 until 2006. I had a 2000 Flare side work truck that rode like a car now I have a truck that rides like a truck or a tank. Dealer still working on it but not much hope. Was told Ford knows of the problems with 04-06 models but they do not know what is causing it or how to fix the problem. Funny that the dealer does not lrt you know they have problems when you but it only after you have bought it do they say oh yea we are having problems with that. Imagine that
I HEAR YA! this thing is the ugliest ride I have ever known, bought a full size for COMFORT this thing about knocks my teeth out. great on the highway, but thats it!!!
friends chevy is like sittin in a recliner!!!
my brand new 06 4.6 gets the same gas mileage as my 03 f150 with a 4.6 v6 did and the old one was only 2wd the new one is 4x4 i'm pleased with the mileage. just like the last guy said, I dunnp what ya expect for a truck.
I have found the 06 ride to be far superior to my 98. My wife has even commented on the difference between the two. I have never riddne in a truck that was so quiet and drove so well. My son is a bowtie person and you could not give me his last two new GM products.
AZ
Did you have any work done on your truck. If so could you tell me what. I like mine but the ride is terrible. Just for info what size tires and make do you have. also is yours 4x4 or 2 whell drive. Thanks for the info. I am glad to see someone has a good riding Ford. There are plenty of us that do not and the problem is the dealers cannot fix them.
Its a brand new 06 Supercab XLT with the 6.5' bed and towing pkg. I got it with the larger 255/65 x 17 outline white letter tires and accented aluminum wheels.
Like I say I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the ride was plus how quiet it was in the cab, very little road noise even on crappy rural roads. I ordered it from a dealer 180 miles from home so got to experience quite a bit of driving the first weekend I picked it up. I've had it 6 days and already have over 500 miles on it.
Just purchased my SC 4X4 a few weeks ago and am on my first trip with her. We are in CO for spring break. First tank was 19.8 and the 2nd was 17.8, so about 18.6 or so for the first 600 miles, but it was down hill from there. I have the 5.4 in mine. On this trip, which is about 1500 miles so far, I have seen from about 13 to the 19.8 on the first tank. I haven't checked the average, but would expect it is somewhere around 16. Some mountains, some high winds in KS and some southernly tail wind in TX.
Ad,
Thanks for the information, I also got mine from another dealer 140 miles away. The reason I asked about the tires is I have the 18 inch there might be something with those size tires. I had the crome package on mine and that is where the 18's came from. Mine is not horrible but is bouncy does better on the interstate. If my dealer does change the rims and tires I think I am going to get him to put 17 inch on. That is what my 2000 had and it rode like a car. My dealer did a hard road balance, three tires were good and one was out. They fixed (I call it a patch) with a new type weight they designed. I am going to make them at least change the one tire and rebalance. The weight is plastic and has little beads in it about 10 inched long and weighs 2 ounces They apply it to the inside of the rim. It helped some but still has a little something that is not right. Thanks again for the information
I have heard about some of the vibration problems with the newer Fords. I just bought a 2006 F-150 Lariat, 4X4, 5.4L, 6.5 foot bed. I have 275 miles on it, and some of them (very small amount) were 65 miles an hour highway miles. I have none of the vibration problems to this point. And while it definently drives like a truck, it is amazingly quiet and takes rough roads and bumps quietly. Only concern at this point is the consistent 12.5 MPG... but heck, it's a truck, right?
Hello...my first time here. I can't help but notice a familiar "name"...AzDesertRat...are you the same "AZ" on the ASA bbs?
For the record, I am a loooong time Ford driver...since the mid 50's. I curently own a 2004 F150 FX4 5.4 Scab...grey with black leather power everything. My kids got me a FlowMaster cat back for Xmas (after I told them what I wanted...LOL) and it sounds great. Mileage? About 13 arounfd town...17 or so freeway, but I ain't really trying! I am going to install an Airaid kit, a Truxedo tonneau, and if I can slip it past my wife, a Hypertech.
Oldtimer,I am not sure what ASA is but I use the same handle just about everywhere. I am in the market for a soft tonneau myself and have been looking at the Extang Full Tilt snapless version. There is someone on e-bay called Tonnoqueen selling them for about $100 less than I have seen them anywhere else. I may have to get one this week. I just had a Magnaflow 18" muffler and chrome tip installed and love the sound. It will have to do until I save up for a cat back system. I am not sure if I will do an intake on this truck or not, I'm not convinced it did anything for my 98 although they do look impressive when you pop the hood!
AZ, ASA stands for the American Sand Association, an Imperial sand dunes (Glamis) related organization and website. There is a poster there that has the same handle.
