My friend from work burned me a copy of a computer program and I can't make it auto run or setup. He included some thing called "Daemon Tools" and I thought that was to open the files with but I can't figure it out. The Daemon tools installed fine and left me with yet another tool bar but I still can't run the program. One file says it is a "bin file" and the other says it is a "cue file". The bin file is 691 mb and is a read only. the cue file is 74 bytes and is also a read only. I have tried right clicking and opening them with every progam option thats listed . Any ideas? Thank in advance!
um... this is one of the many times that I tend to find myself so lacking in a knowledge base that I don't even know the question to ask! 1)What's a disc image 2) can I down load a program like Nero for free off of "downloads.com" or someplace? 3) if I just want to run it on my computer do I still need to burn it to some where? - Sorry-just a little "blue collor" for my own good!
Try just exploring the cd and look for an ***** file. Your friend most likely just burned the program it's self without any auto run file on the cd. Whatever the program is named should be on the cd as XXXXX*****.
To explore the cd, insert into your cd player. Open my computer, right click on your cd player and choose explore.
A disc image is an exact replica of the original, except in a compact, single file. It is designed to be burned to a CD with burning software. So, when you burn it, the software takes that image, opens it up, decompresses it, and puts it on the cd exactly as it came off the original, with the cd name and all. The program he gave you is probably used to mount that file and use it just like mentioned above.
deamon tools icon should be down by the clock in task bar, mine is red, and has a red bolt of lightning down the middle. Right click the icon, go to Virtual CD/DVD Rom, Then device 0 or 1, then click mount image, and find the bin image off the the CD. it should load, then go into "my computer" and beside your normal CD drive icon, there will be another, with the "cd" loaded, just click on it, hit autorun, or go into the disc and find the setup file.
