but what i dont get is how the connecting rods are lubricated. isnt it lubricated by the surrounding oil around the bearings? i dont see how a constant pressure stream can be directly sent to the bearings. Is this done through a hole channled through th crank that sends presureized oil to the bearings? That would affect oil going to the top end?
I'm guessing that my rod bearings are pretty well-worn, then. I flushed my engine over the weekend and I still have valvetrain noise while the engine is running, but not so much the "dry start-up" noise. I'm currently running 20W-50... so I am guessing my next step is to drop the oil pan and double-check the oil pump pickup screen. If that checks out, I guess I'll end up having to do a mild rebuild... however, on another note, I do believe my front and rear main seals are leaking somewhat, so I may put a new pan gasket and front and rear seals and see.... All I know is the darn thing won't completely die LOL *shrug*
Yeh, dont worry about dry start up sound, i lloked in the manaul about it and it says thats complelety fine as long as it gos away within 3 seconds. Though my engine was messed up. glad its not, hope you have good luck finding out whats wrong
