Lately i been doing a little work to my ranger to make it look better to me. I started with painting some inside parts of my truck red and black to match the ouside theme(see gallery for pics). Then i took the "EDGE" stickers off, then the bed trim(plastic rail top on each side of the back bed) caught my eye. I want to take them off and paint them or perhaps leave them off completely.
I tried taking the circle thing off but to my suprise they werent covers. So after breaking one off, i figured i would come here before i screw my truck up any more. My question is how to i take off the rails and if i do take them off, is it a permanent thing. I might just leave them off because i hate the idea of plastic on a truck that is anything but air deflectors. That's one reason i bought my truck instead of a Nissan Frontier at the time. Other reason was i rrefuse to buy a foreign truck. But anyways, back on the topic. Any help would be apprecited.
I took mine off, but that was a couple of years ago, and I don't remember how. I, like you, couldn't stand the stupid plastic. then I found out that they were covering some pretty knarley scratches. Oh well, its a truck. I know I used an allen key, I think from the underside of the bed lip. I don't think it should be a problem re-installing them. I can look at the parts I took off and check, but I don't have them readily available tonight. Let me know if that works.
