I have the Ford plastic drop in bed liner, and being up in the salt belt in CT, i want to take it out just to see how things look under there. Dont want to be surprised later on if i keep waiting. How do you take this thing out? Just pull the sides out from under the bed rails? You dont have to take the plastic trim that goes on top of the bed sides off do you?
Also, i want to get rid of this thing soon. What do you guys think is the best thing to replace the plastic liner? i dont want to just leave it metal, but my dad has had a spray in "rhino liner" in his 04 ranger since the day he bought it and it has held up great. so i am thinking something along that line. anyone know about how much it would be to have a spray in liner installed?
There are a couple varietys of bedliners. The earlier ford superduty ones had bolts in the front lower area where the original bed hooks bolt thru, which would need to be removed first.
Other than that, you grab the middle of the rear of the bedliner and lift straight up.
You have to take the front cargo hooks out first, then the inserts that the cargo hooks hold in.
Then I use a 2x4 or a 4x4. Ram it up the middle and lift. That'll pull the sides down enough that you can pull them out from under the bed rails. Liberal application of brute force is required, but you can't hurt the thing.
As far as cost, out here in Cal it`s probably $400.00- $500.00. Just a guess. Imo it is worth it. A buddy has rhino and I have line-x and mine is definitely better, both looks and durability.

Thanks for the tip - the 2x4 worked great & thankfully, lack of brute force can be compensated for with a little ingenuity & a crowbar - worked great. Glad i did - when my son hauled stone last summer some of it got under the liner somehow - now I get to clean it! ~JR
I had a problem with a Ford drop in plastic one but replaced it with a component liner because I wasn't sure if I was going to keep this truck or not and wanted something I could move over if I got a new one Ford Bed Liner - Ford Truck Bedliners by DualLiner

I have high pressure rhino lining in my 04 since it was two weeks old and it looks brand new still. I only have one cut on the tailgate where a propane bottle came unhooked and rolled hard into the gate. mine looks like linex but it's thicker like rhino should be, I know people with linex that don't use their trucks as trucks and they have cuts and gouges all over plus fading
