It will if you have the right mounts and brackets, but it will bolt to the trans and it will fit, but it does cost a bit to do it right. I'm going through it right now GOOD LUCK
[font color=red size=3]From what I understand, your transmission can stay (it will work) everything else has to be changed. You have to get/make engine perches, alter exhaust (many go with custom headers), get brackets (ps pump, alt, a/c) for a 460 (351 ones won't fit), larger radiator, plus have the correct style of oil pan for the 460. It's not a drop-in swap, but isn't too tough, if you can afford it.;-)
Check out L&L products website http://www.landproducts.com They should have everything you need to do the swap.I used their rubber mounts, chassis exit headers, stock frame towers for 351M/400, and front sump pan because my truck was lifted 4".
I already did this swap in my 79 supercab, it went pretty well.
You just neet to get the conversion motor mounts, and the 460
brackets. I found mine on a station wagon with a 460 in the wrecking yard. The ford 460 stock exhaust manifold will work as long as they are truck manifolds. There is a difference. Just don't expect your exhaust to mate. Your Radiator will work fine
as well, just make sure you use the shroud. My 460 was a 365 horse bored 30 over and I didn't have cooling problems.
I dropped a 460 into a 79 F150 4x4 in place of the stock 400 and all I needed was a set of (L&L Products) motor mounts and a stock Ford van oilpan. Every thing else bolted up like stock.
Been there. Done/tried that.
