What are you guys using to seal the rain gutters above the doors? The factory used some sort of cork type sealer back in 1953. I used 3M body sealer, and it cracked. Need help thanks.
For the '57-''60 trucks some sort of Calking Material was used, looks the same as the Calking used to seal windows in a home, which is all cracked & some chunks of it are missing @ present.
I unfortunately haven't been able to get around to replacing it yet.
I have used GE silicone sealer rated for outdoor use, it comes in a couple of different colors, is paintable and is ''guaranteed'' for 50 years (try to collect on that one) Be that as it may it has worked very well for me. I made a spreading tool from a wooden paint stir stick to apply it. Good luck
Hey all, i know it's been a long time. I just finished sealing my cab gutters. I used a product call Vulcom. It's been used to seal duct work and trailers for years!!!! It's paintable and stays somewhat plyable. The only draw back is it takes about a week to fully cure. It's best to get it in the caulking tubes rather than the 1 gal tub. It does clean up easily with a rag soaked in brake parts cleaner.
As far as removing the old caulking I used a soft stainless wirewheel on a grinder. Don't flinch yall. It worked well and the areas I couldn't get it out I used a thick dental pick. Just my two cents.
I take it you don't drive to much in the rain then?
As if you do, how do you keep the slooshing water from trying to find its way into the cab along w/ the excess off the Windscreen & keep it from sheeting onto you when you get in & out of the cab?

No I dont plan to drive it in the rain often, garage kept so it wont sit outside.
Currently still in the build up phase. The doors seem to be recessed enough to keep the wind forced rain out fairly well...but a little water never hurt anybody.
