Well, I have a fast flashing right turn signal. The RIGHT rear doesn't work. The front flashes fast.
However, the RIGHT rear bulb lights up.
So, I switch out rear bulbs. The RIGHT bulb works on the left side, which would seem to confirm that it is ok. The left bulb does not work on the RIGHT side.
No heavy rains, no sign of water intrusion.
Very odd to me.
I have not switch out and tested the front bulbs, although both light up.
It's funny, but i do almost all of the work on my cars. It would be a shame to have to take it in for this.
Check the socket, it probably doesn't have power coming to it. I had a very similar problem and it was actually the turn signal stalk that was faulty. Do you also have problems with the windshield washer? If so, I'll bet that's it. For some years, it is pretty common for the stalk to go bad. It'll run you about 250-ish to have someone replace it.
It was a wierd thing on mine too but in my case, I had no power to the rear socket. I had read here that this was a common ailment for 98's(I have a 98 too). I didn't know I could get a stalk so cheap elsewhere but in some cases, I prefer genuine parts (they supposedly modified the design so they work better).Good luck!
I have a similiar problem on my 00 Expedition. My rear left turn signal quit flashing, and the front blinks rapid. I fig' it was just the bulb, but for the life of me I cant figure out how to get to the bulb! I removed the 2 screws that appear to hold the light assembly together/on, but it still feels rather securley attached! Any ideas?
