00 Expy Front end issue
I have developed a sensation in the steering wheel and sometimes I can feel it from the accellerator pedal that can only be described as a tapping or thumping. It is not a vibration, but I can feel it at low speed on a rough road. Usually, I get the knock or thump when I am accellerating from a stop (especially when turning) and the torque lifts the engine. Sometimes it happens when I am stopping. It feels like something is "loose" in the steering. Any ideas? I will have to take it in for a check, but don't wanr to be totally naive about it.

I had that also, but this is something quite different. It is like somethong is loose. I hit a few bad potholes while on vacation, but had no immediate affects. I wonder if this is related. It seems to be getting slowly worse.

I had a tapping sensation in the steering wheel on my 02 Navigator. The dealership eventually replaced the telescopic extension that connects to the bottom of the steering column. This solved the problem.
BTW. I still have a vibration that comes and goes at various speeds, grades, loads. Dealership is waiting for a factory expert to come to town. I'll inquire about the clutches.
