Sorry, I must have missed the part about sleeping in the trailer.
Despite Ford's ratings on trailer towing capacity, I've heard an aweful lot of people developing transmission problems towing trailers. It might work with one of those really small pop-up sleepers, but I don't think the Aero will handle a full blown trailer.
it's the frontal wind resistance of full 8 ft wide vertical front trailers that kills Aero's tranny and engine overheating...gotta have one of the newer slope front 7ft wide trailers or a pop up trailer
Well, it turns out that the amount of weight that we would be carrying will far exceed the rated towing capacity of our Aero. So we have decided to buy a Dodge 3/4 ton prospector with a 360. We couldn't find any econolines with low enough K's. If anybody wants to buy a fully loaded 1990 extended Aero Eddie Bauer for about $500-$600 CA, it's up for grabs. It has every record from the day it was bought. It's just a bit rusty, but trusty. I'm gonna miss it!
good plan yoshi,
that Aero with 5 guys, band equipment in back and a big trailer behind would have groaned going up the Canadian Rockies...sounds like the gross combined weight would have been over 12k lbs. 5,400 kilos
that 3/4 Dodge 360 will sail over the mountains...at about 12mpg US or 19L per 100 km...gas just hit $2.50 a US gal here again headed to $3.50 gal. this summer
put $47 US in the old girl last night, OUCH
