My SIL's van when coming to a stop is shaking apart... (Her words) I'm thinking T/C lockup clutch. Is there a plug that I can pull and release the lockup clutch whitout affecting the general performance? and where is it located? Thankx, Frank
Before anything, have her go to autozone, ect that pulls codes for free and have them pull the codes, post the numbers here and we will go from there. OBD-II will tell you most tranny problems.
Will do... She works (S.I.L.) till 7 every nite. I have a friend that has a OBDII and was asking him to bring it to lunch on Wednesday.. We retirees get together and solve world problems once a week.. I'll get the codes here pronto... Hey, I have an Econoline too -- 97 E-350, what model do you have? I just love mine.. Small world..
Two codes on the Windstar: PO301, and P1405.. Cylinder 1 missing and gas cap /environmental. Doesn't sound like they will contribute to the shaking upon stopping the vehicle..
Is there a disconnect for the Torque Converter lockup clutch that will disengage it? and is it easy to get to? I'd like to try the disconnect first before giving the job to a dealership. Thankx, Frank
More than likely your EGR passages are blocked/clogged which is causing the code. A seafoam treatment should solve the problem. If not, then the DPFE sensor needs replaced.
Whew!! Gots lots to consider.. First I have to get the vehicle and then start with your thoughts concerning the issues.. Your right, it probably needs wires since it is a 96 and I don't think she's had them changed. Will read the theads you suggested. Thank You for your input.. I couldn't find the Windstar forum, can a moderator switch me? Thankx again, Frank
There is no Windstar section here at Ford TRUCKS Enthusiasts. Windstar is based on the Taurus platform. Aero is based on the Ranger/Bronco II platform.
I think that 96 was refering to other places on the net.
Granted, there is a lot to consider but, does anyone know where the plug to the T/C lockup is located? When the vehicle does finally get over here, I'd like to know where the thing is just to try...
