have you thought about going roller cam? more money but definatly more power too. other than that the comp xtreme series of cams are a really good cam selection but telling us what the truck is actually used for helps too.
I'd probably go with the bigger camshaft. I DD'd that combo and with the bigger cam you should be in the powerband from 2500-6000. At 2500 RPM's it's showing over 450 ft.lbs of torque and peaks at around 4000 RPM's. Max power is right at 5500.
As for the intake, the Stealth is a great choice, but the Air Gap is a good one too. Personal preference on that one.
Hey monsterbaby thanks for replying the truck is used for weekend drives hunting a few chebies. I also just love the power these bbf's make awsome. Might go to the local 1/8 mile track once in a while. Thanks for ya help in advance.

Thanks for the info bigsnag really appreciate it that cam does sound good.
If you are just looking for a weekend warrior type of truck, then I would also suggest a roller cam, if the budget allows. Crower has a nice roller that isn't too aggressive and keeps the max lift down so it's really easy on your valvetrain. Comp also has a couple of smaller solid rollers. I don't think they list them in their new catalog but they still make them. http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Se...umber=34-770-9 http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Se...umber=34-771-9
The second Comp cam listed there would have just about the same exact RPM range as the bigger cam you listed. However, when I run it through DD, I get aover 100 more ft.lbs of torque and more than 100 more hp!!!!
the 280 is the better of the two 550hp at 5000 to 6200 and 550tq at 5000.thats similar to mine i stayed solid cause a little more streetable and less maint.you can race the roller but less freindly on street when you gotta lug it around sometimes .. voodoo great for hp.not too big on torque good in a light car
Your cam is the most crucial choice when building an engine combo, IMO. It needs to be matched to all the other components and also needs to be suited for the intended purpose. A huge roller cam is no good for a daily driver that you need a lot of torque for pulling loads. Conversely, you wouldn't want a small RV type cam in your 557 cubic inch, aluminum headed, single plane manifold, weekend warrior engine that you plan on racing and revving to 6500 RPM's.
If you need any specific advice, let us know your engine and components and your intended usage and someone, including myself, can give you a few recommendations.
i want to keep the stock bottem end for now. the truck will not be doing any towing uless i buy a street bike to sit in the box haha. the truck will be used for taking down chevy's and dodges not daily driver.
