Many successful motors have been built using the 255DEH or 265DEH. I'm currently running the 265DEH with Tim's flat top pistons, ported and polished heads, bigger titanium 2.07/1.94 valves, Weiand 8010 intake, Comp Pro Roller rockers... lots of other stuff...

It runs great, on 91 octane.

the XE cams are a bit more aggressive than the Dual energy...and more lift i think. I'm not aware of anyone who has used both with the same components for a direct comparison.

The XE256 will require lower static compression to run pump- as compared to the 265.

So the build is a very important consideration. If I were running Tim's pistons with 9:1 + compression I'd use the 265deh if i wanted to run pump 87. Tim has had great success with the quench on the aussie heads and his pistons designed for them so i'd consider running the XE262 with that set up. If the compression is stock I'd either run the 255deh or the xe256...probably the 256. I've been wondering if the DEH cams might be easier on the lifters and lobes since it isn't as aggressive...I don't know.

Based on Tim's success I'll be starting my new 400 on premium with a little lucas boost...I have a roller cam thats very close to the XE262 , aussie heads and tim's pistons. Hope to have it up and going by the 18th....we'll see. I built it thinking propane and will do that by winter...

If you have a near stock motor and a heavy F250 and want good low end torque you should use the 255DEH or XE256H cam rather than the 265DEH. You need significantly more compression than stock with the 265DEH.

I am running the XE256 in my 78 F150 and I really like it. It made a huge difference over stock. Has better low end. I am also running a Weiand 8010 intake with a Holley 600 cfm and dual exhaust. Seems to be a good combination, would like to get some headers though.
