I was always jealous of my friends' high speed. I had to go home to dialup and it drove me nuts because we had nothing available. I think I went through four or five internet providers waiting for the day high speed came to town. I had it installed within weeks of it being introduced. I've have now had Comcast HSI for almost five years, and I have no real complaints with. It is far better than their local tv programming for sure. I think mine is about $43 a month.
Here is a little piece of advice though. Check to see what some of the resellers are offering. Several of your big box stores, as well as small online companies are resellers for what ever is available in your area. Last January we got my mom 6 months of Comcast HSI for $19.95 and a $130 rebate by signing up through one of these brokers. Much better deals were available through them than directly through Comcast.
Edit: A quick google search shows a reseller offering 6 months at $20, free modem (after rebate), and $75 rebate
its tough for me to decide what to do, since i dont know ANYTHING about hooiking up the new setup and always hate dealing with something that can be a pain in the butt to figure out.
I have Comcast Digital Cable with HBO/SHO & Broadband Internet. My bill is just shy of $118.00 a month with everything they serve me.
Extrememly happy with them.
This lady I'm seeing has comcast highspeed along with AOL. AOL has a bring your own connection plan that only costs $10-$15 a month the last time I heard. Perhaps Comcast has a discounted rate for someone with there own ISP.
Something to ask.......
