I recieved my air filter from Fleet Filters today and went to install it. I removed all the factory air filter box and parts. Rubber hose went over the new filter and clamped down correctly and every thing looks great. Problem is whe I closed the hood the filter hits and will not let the hood close all the way. The only way I see to get more room is to remove the battery box. If I remove the batery box how am I gonna mount the battery?? I love the new phhsssst noise when you let off the diesel pedal. I just want a hood that closes all the way? Any advise??
Steve
When the filter is about 1-3/4 inches from the fender lip, it should drop down just a bit more into an area that is lower. That should allow the hood to clear it.
Yea I ran into the same thing when I was trying to jam my 6637 in there. Like Springerpop said - you'll have to scoot the filter towards the passenger side until it drops down. (The filter is gonna be in there at an angle - I have seen some pics of the filter in there flat - but that's when the hood won't close for me)
