Okay, guys im at a loss. My truck has been developing a hesitation off idle for a while now. Now its getting quite a lot worse. If I idle at a light for a while, then hit the gas to go, sometimes this thing falls on its face and will eventually die, other times, it seems like its starving for fuel, then all the sudden runs good. Sometimes, there isnt any symptoms, it just runs good.
I just had the fuel pump replaced, and the problem is still there. There is also a new fuel filter installed. Where do I go next? This symptom is there if I program the truck to stock, and shut off the edge. Actually by turning the edge on and or putting the evolution on and programming, the stall seems less, and gets power faster when it does its hickup. The stalling thing happens no matter what level of fuel is in the tank, currently its full.
Anyone have a guess what this is? I need help, im stumped.
no, thats my next thing. However all the symptoms of the cps failure didnt sound like this. It has never stalled, or anything like that except off the start at a light or the like.
No I know it doesn't sound like the typical CPS symptoms.... but with it being fine some times, and then running bad others - it sounds like a sensor issue somewhere though. If a new CPS didn't cure it - then at least you'd have a spare to keep in the glove box for if (when) it would go out!
I can't say that.... I've read anyone posting the symptoms you are having
is the check engin light on. even if its not still check the codes. some codes wont set engin light on but still will set a code check and go from there.or if fuel line is rusty might be suckin air through fuel line if its a older truck.
I wouldn't think it is the TPS. That should just cause it not to go right when you push the pedal, but not make it stall out. My vote is change the CPS and see if that fixes it.

You need to take it to someone who has a good scanner. Otherwise you're just playing pin the tail on the donkey.
It will be well worth the diagnostic charge to find out what specifically needs to be done.
I had it scanned today, and the only thing that came up was a code that was a pcm memory, from programming it, cant remember the code, but its the code you get for a few times after you program the pcm. No other codes listed. No ses light when this happens. If it was a gas truck, id say its flooding causing it to stall, but diesel, heck, just seems like it doesnt know how to react when i hit the gas sometimes......
You probably need to take it a few steps further from a simple P-code scan.
When I said scanner I meant one that can datalog like a Snap-on or the one that Ford uses. You need to "scope" the engine while driving with one of those hooked up. That way the offending part can be weeded out.
Thanks! My buddy has a snap on scanner with all the updates. I'll be calling him today, worst case I bite the bullet and take it to the stealership....either way, Im sure they can figure it out.
