Anyone been cruising EBay lately? Any cool stuff to share. I know there was a 66 Ford truck in Barrie on there 2 weeks ago. Had the custom cab package. I didn't save it so I'm not sure what it wen't for. It was at $1500 with a day to go the last I had checked. ....was a long box so not my style anyways.
I'll use it for smaller stuff and to dream. I like looking at pictures and there's no end on ebay of Ford trucks like ours. I actually found my 74 on ebay. It didn't sell in Feb when it originally listed and I didn;t have the cash back then anyways. ANyhow Come May of that year I wrote the guy to see if he still had the truck and he did so we cut a deal. SO I guess Ebay helped me find my ride which is a big deal. Otherwise I would say I cruise for pics, trim pieces and collectables. I'm surfing comics at the moment.
Nevada? It will be clean but a long ways off. A little easier heading towards the Carolina's if you can find one. Been dreaming of a 500 Greg?
" I like dreaming" , Oh no , I'm starting to sound like Al!
I have used ebay a few times. I think I have 7 purchases. All went great except for one, where the goods arrived damaged, still waiting on the claim process.
I have bought some obscure stuff, like an exhaust manifold for my 64 Falcon. The guy didn't know what it was but I recognized it from the detailed description/photo. Got a great deal. Couldn't find one locally for any amount.
You have to be careful about shipping, some sellers mark up the actual costs. More importantly don't ever let them use UPS! UPs is pure evil , they charge crazy amount for brokerage fees. I bought a $100 dollar item and had to pay $60 brokerage! Never again. Just insist on parcel post, it takes a little longer but I have never seen a bill for brokerage/duty.
The key with ebay or any auction, is to set your limits and not get caught up in the competetion of the acquisition. I've seen junk go for crazy prices. Be patient, what your looking for will come up again.
I don't think I'd buy a vehicle with out kicking the tires, I would not hesitate to ask an FTE member to check out a truck or car for me if I was serious about a purchase.
As with all things ..."buyer beware" but ebay is fun and easy. When I'm bored I search for the most bizzare things I can think of and you'd be surprized on how many hits you get. Even Jay Leno had a bit about eBay on the Tonight show.
Ya Jeff I am looking for a rolling chassis. My 1st car was a 69 Galaxie 500 with a 302. I currently have a 429 I am building and it will be looking for a home.
Man I would like that car back. I could be "cool" again.(guess I'm dreaming too)
