I am new to this board and I am really impressed with the size and coverage of it. I own an 2003 Expedition Edddie Bauer and I am having problems with my driver's side rear view mirror.
The reason of my posting is that in spite of looking in the archives (using the search feature) I could not find the answer to my problem. There are too many side mirror issues not related to my inquiry, although I know that it is common in the 2003 Expedition models.
Once the mirror is set to the desired position, when changing gears from Reverse to Parking or Drive or viceversa, the mirror not only does not return to the previous position, it also sometimes it either sets to a different position or it continues to move to the point that you can hear the gear clicking itself until it stops eventually. I know that there is a TSB for it... How can I go about fixing this... Can I fix it myself??? Or does the dealer do it for free...
Thank you very much for your time and attention,
Bryan
Welcome first off...this is a great site...anyway, click the TSB tab at the top of the page and find your problem and what you need to do about it. Usually you wheel it into Ford and they fix it for free....the dealers love this stuff because its guaranteed money from Ford and they don't have to pressure the customer to fix something.
I have the exact same problem with my passenger mirror, when shifting to reverse with rear assist enabled, the mirror will intermittenly drive itself all the way down and continue to do so until I either manually take over or it times out. Did you try the dealer route and was it fixed for free? Stupid question, are the TSB issues covered under factory warranty only or even when warranty is up?
Hello:
I called Ford, they said that if the vehicle is out of warranty it will have to be out of my/your expense, since the TSB is not a Recall. I checked on several sites and there is no recall for 2003 Expedition for this reason. I believe that there are only 2 recalls for 2003 Expeditions, one is for the lights on the running boards, I can't remember what the other one is (not important anyway).
I will keep on looking, will keep you posted if I find something.
