just tie a chain around it and hook it to your tow hitch and yank 'er out.... i did that with my explorer 5.0 and a palm tree that was about 8 foot high.. came right out but of course i was able to use the road in front of my house to do it... dont know if you'd be stuck in soft grass or dirt......
I watched a neighbors pine tree get removed by a Mexican family, they used a chainsaws in the dirt to cut roots, talk about destroying blades and equipment. I had a oak tree I cut down at ground level that kept sprouting around the bark, bored holes and used Draino. This worked also on Liquid Amber roots after the stump grinder as a year before the lawn sprouted up like a ivey vines. Used a friends Peterbuilt and chains to remove 3 ash trees 14' in diameter, now that was fun.

No, no, they were 14 inchers, see i'm not a proof reader for any book company, sorry. Now 14 foot I would like to see one of those largest dump trucks in the world pull one down. My 'ex wife could knock one down just by looking at it.

I should save and printthis thread, I might have a dead tree
Hey Jake,
If you have a dead tree and can't take it down because of equipment, ask around and let people know you have a tree they can have if they cut it down. Alot of people, myself included, will go to people's houses and cut them down for the firewood (heat).
Heres one i did about four years ago when i had my dodge . took a whole day for us to dig round the trunk . flagged down a guy driving by in a jcb who ripped it out and lifted it on to the truck
Heck that looks like a little sapling, bet I can blast out 8 of 10 windows with 6 pounds of C-6, the 'ex would have that tree scared out of its roots in under 10 seconds on a stare down. "She feared no refrigerator" can eat the whole thing including handle and hinges with one gulp, only the cord will be left after the "frige carnage" for the scrap metal forensic team to go on to slove the missing refrigerator mystery. She started at 138 pounds, 12 years later a scale wrecking 322 pounds at 5' 4", she grew faster than inflation. It was easier to jump over her than walk around.

I liked Ben's idea of blasting. We used to do that on the Central Coast in the 60's and 70's for Almond and Walnut stumps. Sometimes we would get some serious altitude with those stumps!
I have 4 trees to cut down, Unfortunately two big ones are near some structures and anyone doing it will need to be licensed and insured. It could get very expensive if something goes wrong.
na--beemers ok--he knows the diff between bs and the truth----and--if you anchor the tree right-itll go where you want to --just have to use tension and cables----with no stupidity involved--and no spatics in the area!!!!! been there---
