2004 Ranger Seats

I have recently hade major back surgery. And the current seats in my XLT Supercab are kind of hard on the back. Does anyone have an idea on a swap for some more cumfortable leather seats that would be bolt on and not alot of mods. I do have access to a salvage yard that a friend owns just not sure which way to go. Looking to the experts for some guidence.Tom

Well...Exploder seats bolt right in, but I'm willing to bet they will provide little difference. The best thing I see you doing is trying to find another wrecked vehicle and adapting it's seats. Just walk around the boneyard 'til you find somethin' comfortable. It's just a matter of making them securely and safely mount to the Ranger seat mounts.

I was just hoping by looking at all the threads that the whole front setup from the explorer would mount great. I have the automatic so thats not in the way.And they have to be a little better than the stock back killers that are in there now. The seats in the wifes Chrysler T&C are very comfortable but would never think it would work? I could always get them redone for about a $1000 , leather and more padding but seems a bit extream.

Oh, if that were only true. First you have to carefully measure and make sure they will physically fit - some won't. Then you have to determine if the restraint systems are compatible, electrically and physically (Are there pretensioners? Do the pretensioners move the belt or the latch? Will the pretensioners in the new seats operate with the Restraints Control Module of the truck?). Will the truck belts mate with the new seat latches? Then you have to fabricate adapters, which means you have to have to cut and weld metal.
Not an easy task.

If you look in your owners manual you will see that rangers had an option for a manual lumbar support. Look for a Ranger or Explorer driver seat with a round **** on the drivers seat back.

The Explorers also come with seats that have power lumbar support, so instead of a **** there is an extra switch or two on the seat side panel.

The leather Ex seats (out of a '99) that I put in my Ranger provide a whole lot more support and comfort. Big difference.

I really like the ridges (for lack of a better term) on the bucket seat. To me that alone makes it feel more comfortable, sporty, and designed for me.
