Thanks for the info. I understand that the reading post turbo may not be totally accurate but about how far off do you estimate that would be? Is it possible to just back out of throttle sooner? I've only had the truck for a few months and I'm a little freaked out about drilling into the exhaust manifold...

So was I, but I got over it...

I had never drilled or tapped anything before in my life, and I had no problem.

If I was you I'd do both.

There are so many sites with good directions, and the guys here can walk you thru it. If you are careful and take your time you won't screw it up.

It is closer to the engine, so it will pick up changes slightly faster. What I really meant was that it would get a more accurate reading to the Edge unit on what the engine is doing. The reason for this is the amount the temperature drops across the turbine depends on several variables, including the amount of boost you pushing, the mass flow rate across the compressor, and the mass flow rate across the turbine. If any of these variables change, the amount the temperature drops from pre to post turbo will also change. Other things can affect the amount difference you see from these two, including a better exhaust (this is why people with a post turbo see a bigger drop in EGT with aftermarket exhaust than those with pre turbo). Etc ete. <O</O

Long story short: the EGT you should care the most about is pre turbo. Pre turbo probes give you the true EGT going into the turbo. However, pre turbo probes tell you nothing of what is going on with the right bank (assuming you have it in the left manifold). Post turbo probes let you know what is going on with both banks, and you can get a good idea what is going on pre turbo based upon a certain turbo operation conditions (i.e., WOT at high RPMs) based upon your setup. Hopefully sometime soon I will have both; at that time I will post and let you know what I find out.<O</O

Ah, gotcha... I thought you meant that an Edge monitor would 'sense' temp changes faster (than an analog gauge in the same spot)
