My truck doesn't have any on it now, but I have some that I am going to install. It is the wider one with the black rubber down the center. I do not have many of the clips to install & don't know which ones to use & where. Bronco Graveyard shows 4-6 different ones. My one front fender has a hole on each end w/3 studs spaced on between them. I have a few clips w/a bolt & a dome nut. I'm sure you use these where those holes are & get to the nut from the inside. Can you use all of these types fasteners, or do you need a combination of these & another? Any help is appreciated.
If the T-studs are missing you can use screws or rivets.
I will be back with the info you need.
May I suggest purchasing a Original Ford Shop Manual obn CDRom from www.motorhaven.com as this will give you all the info and more for your truck.
They are on sale right now.
T studs are indeed missing. What did you mean by screws or rivots? Use them with the slide type clip or screw the trim to the body. I thought that if I could get access everywhere, the clips with the bolt with the nut would be best. I thought about putting 3 on each fender & door & 4-5 on each bed side. Does this seem like a right idea or am I way off? Thanks for the input!
I guess what I meant was: Do you mean rivot that plastic clip to the body? If so, once that is done, do you slide the trim over each clip left to right one at a time one after the other? There is a notch at each end of each chrome strip where the clip get inserted to the trim. I'm not into drilling chrome strip either!
Yes that's it.
A sheet metal screw can be loosened if necessary though.
To install the chrome you insert the top of the chrome over the top of the clip then you press down and with small rubber mallert give it a little rap and it pops right on.
Some guys can do with with their wrist.
The extreme back ones are accessible through the tail light assembly.
The illustrations attached earlier should be helpful for this install
Thanks I was just getting ready to seach for or ask this ? and what do you know someone beat me to it. I want to swap a good Wyoming body onto my dads 78 ranger lariet but the donor body has no chrome.
Check out a body shop. I have a spot welder from eastwood that works with my wirefeed and it came with the attachment and a supply of the studs. Dont think they would chagre much, you just slip a stud in the tip and place it against the body and zap its done!
Speaking Of Body Molding, How Do You Clean A Dull Molding. I Tryed Buffing It With A Wheel. That Didn't Work To Good. There Seems To Be A Coating Over The Aluminum. I Dont Think It's Clear Coat. Could The Aluminum Be Chrome Plated? Anyway When I Buffed It The Coating Came Off With Much Buffing And The Aluminum Polished Up Real Nice. But There Must Be Another Way. The Bed Molding Is To Long For My Buffer. Any Ideas, Anyone.
