The CHI-3V heads and the longer duration high lift cam help a lot. Mine is a 408 with CHI-3V heads and a HR cam with 281/281adv, 224/224@0.050, 0.595/0.595. I figure about 540 HP@6200 RPM. Of course with a stock bottom end, I don't go there often.
I will cast my vote before we do it. I have also run the numbers on our software.
We build a few years ago a stroker 351W (4.170 stroke) almost 432 cubes.
Edelbrock heads, solid roller pretty serious street engine, on pump gas. It made 590HP, about 530 torque http://www.tmeyerinc.com/windsor.htm
Some quick safe numbers,
Project engine 465 torque, 390 Hp
465 torque / 408 cubes = 1.14 *434 cubes =494.6
390 HP / 408 cubes = .96 * 434 cubes = 414.85
that would be just increasing the cubes of the project engine.
change from 2 plane intake to single.
add another 1/4 stroke
add another 100 CFM
go from hyd. .516/.520 lift to hyd roller .580/.590
It's getting very interesting, I want a ride in the Pantera that this is going in.
Your more then invited for a ride in the Pantera. The cam was also chosen for a lower rpm band giving a little more tq, slightly less hp and flat tq curve. I am guesing just short of 500hp and very similar tq.
Sounds like the owner will be up to watch it on the dyno and pick it up the end of March. We currently have 6 engines to dyno, so we are going to try and pace our selves and get a few out of the way and get the stroker on plenty early. I will keep everyone updated with pics and movie.
