Massive steering wheel play?

I have a 92 F150 with 4.9 2WD and all of a sudden there is a 1/2 turn play in the steering. I have checked the front end and is seems to be in the steering box??? I have never heard of this before. Is this common? Easy fix? Cost?

Under further looking there is 1/2 - 3/4 turn play in the steering box.....?
Is this a common failed part? How much of a PITA is it to replace.

I got all off but the pitman arm bolt, what size socket is it? I have to go buy one. The biggest I have is 1 1/4"

I don`t know the size of the nut but once you get it off you may need a puller to remove the arm, although if the box is scrap you can use two pry bars and a large hammer.
