sorry to run this string again, but i am having a hard time finding out anything about my truck in the way of birthplace, axle ratios, etc. i remember seeing a list that had a link to a site where you punched in your vin and you could get back all the info on your truck...anyone still have that link? also, i checked the sticker on the inside of the driver's door jamb and it is blank along the entire bottom line (where the axle codes and other info is supposed to be). anyone seen that before? either way i tried to fire up the archive machine and/or the site search and had no luck with the vin or the axle codes. i sure appreciate any ideas. oh yeah, i already checked for the tab on either pumpkins - nothing other than the raised 44 and 60 on the front and rear. my vin is F26BNEH2853 thanks all
711, give me the codes from your driver side door jamb, and Ill let you know the birthplace, axle ratio, trans etc (although engine, axle may have been changed)
fozzy, i would give you the codes, but the label is blank other than the front and rear weight limits, gross, and tire pressures. i'm not sure why this is, maybe it was salvaged at one time or it was just not printed well. i even cleaned with glass cleaner trying to raise the letters - just seems like they were never there to begin. i think i'm going to try john's advise and hit the google search. and john, it isn't that i gave up to easily, only that i'm not that savvy when it comes to surfin' the information superhighway. thanks much for the advise
thanks sparky and everyone else too. i think i'm just going to give it the chalkline on the driveshaft method (thanks john for the directions on that) and roll it down the driveway. later all
Hoss, I recommend that, because it doesn't matter where the truck came from, there have been too many through here that have had, and others could have had the parts changed out. The only way that you can know for sure is to check it for yourself. Be sure to have a friend with you, just in case things don't go as planned. We want you here with us all in one piece. ;-)
