I have been reading all about Landyot's Radius Arms...and while I think they are a great thing, I have reservations about cutting off my factory traction bars.
I have also read a few excellent reports about Roadmaster's Active Suspension upgrade. It's very similiar to the Landyot's set-up, but requires no cutting. The company offers a 30 day money back guarantee. The kit itself is less tha $300 and it's a bolt on.
Anyone have experience with these systems? They suposedly get rid of the wandering, allow you to have more tongue weight, handling great increases...yet the ride improves.
Although the appearance is similar, the design and function of the roadmaster is nothing like the radius rods.
The roadmaster will beef the front half of the spring pack with a coil spring. I'm sure it will help some but I'm affraid I can't tell you how much.
The Radius Rod (Landyot) make the distance from the front spring pearch to the axle fixed to eliminate unwanted movement. Because it's so hard to mount anything under an X he used the spring as the front mount. By doing that the front of the spring for all practical purposes is now just a bar of steel, and all spring action is from the rear of the spring.
I'm sure there are people who will chime in with real experiance, but for 3 bills IMO I would find another way. Air bag get rave reviews, there's the radius rods, you should have a stock sway bar. For that much cash you could almost have a brand new pair of B code F350 springs.
Fords4me...thanks for the thoughts. According to the pictures on their site...it goes on the rear half of the spring. Now whether or not that makes a difference...I can't
tell you.
I do indeed have a sway bar as my Ex came with the trailer group. Wandering is really what I'd like to improve on. I could look into the air-bags, but I don;t see how that will help my situation. The Rep from Roadmaster was positive that the wandering would be corrected by their product. I was hoping to get some real world thoughts here.
I have the Roadmaster. Works fine, especially in towing. Also have sway bar. Steering straight without any wandering. Yes it supports the back 1/2 of spring and handles 8000lb trailer with about 1 inch sag. No "axle warp".
