Um, how does one acheive 212 ft. lbs. of torque? Is that right for the crankshaft?! The harmonic balancer on the front of the engine? I have yet to see a wrench go that high.

With a torque mutiplier, that attaches to the torque wrench.
Axle nuts are sometimes torqued that high or even higher. Seems like the old air cooled VWs rear axle nuts were over 300 if my memory serves this morning.
I use mine a lot for lug nuts and front axle nuts on my front wheel drive cars, even though they are not torqued as high as 250, the extra length of the tool makes the job much easier.
If I had a wrench that went to 200 ft lbs, I wouldn't buy anything else to torque a crankshaft bolt or anything else that was held by a single bolt. I would just go a little tighter than the point where the wrench clicked.
To DaBigTow, many thanks dude. You did what scores could not do... Again, many thanks. I will be calling on you and your expertise if I have any more problems. You know your work and where to find the correct info. I too have a SnapOn torque wrench which tops out at 250. Car dudes will find those numbers unreal, but for heavy equipment mechanics, 400ft.lb or torque is all in a day's work. I will tell you how the vehicle runs..
