alright thanks thats all I needed to know I'm either thinking of rebuilding the 4.9L or I might be able to get a 302. So we'll see what happens. Thanks
351M,400,460 will require a different tranny/bellhousing because the bolt patterns are different. A 300/302/351W will bolt up to the present drivetrain but you may have to finagle clutch/flywheel/flexplate etc. You will also need the proper mounts and accessory brackets etc. You can rebuild the 300 to make better power, see the Inline-6 forum for info. A 351W will make a good engine but a 302 will require gear changes to move a heavy truck and it will rev it's guts out doing it.
Actually the 351 is the only "M", the 400 is just a 400. A parts vehicle might be in order. If you go automatic the C-6 has a 1 piece case so you will need the transmission for that series, standard same thing... A friend of mine tweaked his 300 with an Offy 4V manifold and carb, headers and some other goodies from Clifford Research. It is sweet and surprises a lot of V-8's.
