It makes sense to stretch the change intervals (if you are going to) incramentally and sample as you go. I like 7500 if there are no adverse affects showing in the samples because that's Ford's recommendation for normal conditions and also the fuel filters are due evey other oil change (15K intervals), nice and simple.
You're welcome guys! And while I'm on here I want to say a big thanks to everyone keeping this top civil and on track (for once).
For a long time, I thought I was the only person on this board that ever used Amsoil and had great results with it (due to the flame wars breaking out and getting locked down by the admins).
P.S. I could easily wipe the floor with Bob and his baseless arguments, but I got things to do. Perhaps some day I will make the time.
Scafes, I wouldn't think that you would consider information directly off the Amsoil website "baseless", since you are so familiar with Amsoil.
Maybe you can explain why Amsoil recommends using their API certified (licensed) products for warranty reasons?
Q. Why aren't all AMSOIL motor oils API licensed?
A. Good question. AMSOIL staffers have recently read some message boards with misinformation regarding this issue. Let us address API licensing in depth, as well as the issue of warranties. Some AMSOIL motor oils are API licensed, some are not. If you're concerned about your warranty and feel pressures to use an API licensed oil, even after reading this answer, then the 5W-30 (XLF), 5W-20 (XLM) or 10W-30 (XLT) XL-7500 or our 15W-40 (PCO) API licensed oils should be your choice. If you are looking for an alternative to frequent oil changes or just want the best performing oil for your car, then one of our top tier non-API licensed synthetic oils are for you. Read on, and decide for yourself.

This is not about the pros/cons of the mfg or quality of their oil.

I am not familiar with Amsoil products as far as the 6.0L goes, but my former full time job, and now my part time job as a Merchant Marine Captain has exposed me to the use of Amsoil in a marine application. We used to run Royal Purple up until about 2 years ago. Now we run Amsoil and the oil change intervals are up to 9 months. This is with constant running and oil analysis and changeing the filter about every 2 months. The oil holds up better then any other oil in this marine application. I know marine engines work differently than our PSD's. Marine engines usually run at a constant RPM, which is much better then the constant revving that these trucks are used to. Our engines vary from 3116 Cats, to 6V71, 8V71, 12V71, 16V71, and 3508 Cats. That is about all the facts I can contribute to this post. No opinions here.
