k i started redoing my truck a long time ago and everything worked flickers etc , so i took all wiring out got new cab etc put back together now i have power etc but no flickers, high beamlights, dash lights, heater, and weirdly when i shut off ignition it still gets power to the fuse panel like a 9 volt pulse ???? which kills battery ? also for break lights to work where do i run the wire from ? like from the thing on the pedal to the porportioning valve? or from the valve to a wire in harness also the wiring from the 4 speed tranny ? where does that wire go ? the 2 prong one. and my alternator doesn,t charge i don,t think bought new battery plus alternator and wires hooked up also got rid of fusable link
Not sure about the 9v pulse, but as far as wiring, the switch on the pedal goes directly from power to the rear lights. The one on the trans is for the reverse lights.
I'm not following... You replaced the cab and used the old wiring harness in the 'new' cab? Did you also use the old ignition switch, headlight switch, dimmer switch, column? Or did these all come with the 'new' cab?
Look over the wiring harness for extra connectors and make sure all connections are good and tight.
yes i used everything from the old cab , so from the break pedal the wire goes straight to the back lights or is there a plug in on the harness past the fire wall i plug in ?
Usually their is an electrical plug at the firewall which operates the rear lights. There is another electrical plug at the rear right behind the rear gas tank (driver side).
On newer trucks
The brake light switch requires a harness comprised of 2 wires.
One Red & the other red/black stripe.
this is part of the main harness and should be easy to figure out as the connector has two side clips and only fits one way.
The older ones when to the Master cylinder ( I suspect you have this one )
I have a request
Please list your questions in numerical order or make a special thread for each topic as this would make things easy for Us.
There are no 9 volts pulsing circuits on these truck.
Where do you HAVE power ?
It appears you are going to have to do an tedious one circuit at a time trouble-shoot for this amount of problems.
Start at the Battery .and at the opposite end the fuse panel for power on both sides of fuses.
That fusible link you got rid of is what can keep your truck from BURNING UP
I'd replace that before anything else
alright k the pulse to my fuse panel is 12 volt, so when i shut off key the cd player turns on off quickly, gauge lights turn on off and i hooked test light to the accy fuse and the power pulses it? but when i turn on key i have full power?
the only things I know of that could flash in these trucks is the hazzard flasher, the directional flasher and the guage regulor. I suppose any of these could be wired backasswards and be feeding the panel. Unplug the 2 flashers and take the wire off the guage regulator and see which stops the pulse.

I think that the flashers would be a good 12 volts. But you are onto something with the gauge regulator. 9 volts would be expected there, so I think you are right, the output of the gauge regulator is being fed back to the fuse panel.
