Im afraid if i put too much pressure on the drain plug the whole case will crack with it. also all the rear half case where the bolts go in look like acid was pured on it and made the case bubble and melt. it still works.
Are the transfer case on f150 obs the same??? My transfer case has the PTO cover on it.
yeah the f150's used the same t-case.you could get electric shift in the f150's but you'd need to run a couple lines for switches.many were manual shift too though.
the f350's had the pto option.if you don't use it,you don't need to replace it with one.
the difference will be slip yoke or flange yoke, and electric or manual shift.
there was also a BW 1354 used in 1990 and newer trucks,
and a BW1345 used in 80 to 89 trucks
and i steer clear of the electric shift units, i have changed way to many dead shift motors on customers vehicles to ever own an electric shift t-case
Same gearing for f150 and f350??? i read on other forum the ones with Pto front of case is aluminum and rear is magnesium. go figure...
yes.all BW1356 t-cases are the same.like Tom stated above and i forgot about, was fixed or slip yoke.
your right.some f350's came with a pto option and they're aluminum/magnesium and they hold a bit more fluid too.
i had recently bought a used one like this.it needed to be re-sealed between the halfs and i forgot about it.over the winter it leaked out and in the spring i burned it up going down the road.
my next one (the one in there now) i got one taken from an f150.slip yoke/manual shift.i didn't have a need for the pto anyway and besides it was right by the exhaust.i don't think i could have made use of it even if i wanted.
i suppose one thing about scoring one from an f150 is,it that it might have had an easier life but for $150 a pop locally i wasn't too worried.
