im puttin in my new smoked headlights and i cant figure out how to remove the chrome casing around it without breaking anything. whats the trick to remove the chrome casing??
yup, take out the 2 batteries first. Then just feel around for 2 nuts, they are hidden and pretty hard to see, I just stuck my hand down there and felt around for a few minutes till I found em.
so once i take the 2 batts out along with the 2 hidden bolts, the casing and turn signals will come right out. then the headlight buckets are just held in with the screws in the front???
Thanks on this thread, My wife poked out the driver side headlight when she was parking the truck in the yard... she hit a tree limb, and I have been going nuts the last week trying to figure out how it all comes apart. This is a great help.
I was just coming here to ask how to get out the signal light out as Ive ben trying all day to replace the lens.
And low and behold heres my answer........................
Nobody mentioned that the bolts stay there , they just spin out from the headlight door.
I just spent 2 hours and tore half my truck apart to find out the bolts just spin in the housing they are in but dont come right out.
Taking the battery tray out on the right hand side is a hoot!
2nd evening almost have it back together.
My advice if you are thinking about doing this ...............dont , either sell your truck or commit suicide!
It turned out my screws screwed out of the headlight door instead of the nuts coming off.
They were 2 sizes I found out. Must have been apart before.
The whole deal sucked and now the corner clear part sticks out farther than the rest.
