This is a dumb question but I ordered a 5" exhaust but they sent me the wrong kit (they sent 99-02 dodge) anyways my question is my new kit is coming in on Tuesday would it hurt anything if I left the exhaust off (well beyond the downpipe). I have enough time to install the kit but not remove it. Would it just be best for me to wait till next weekend?? One more question: They're sending out the kit Monday but for the same price they'll exchange the kit for a stainless 4". Should I get that instead of the 5" alumized?? By the way, I'm starting to not like you guys anymore (jk). I came to this forum a year ago with a CPS problem (which I didn't know what that was) and now reading, I got the Mod bug. Thanks
when i ordered my 3-4" DP from tymar i went ahead and cut the cat out and ran without any exhaust (except the stock DP) dumpig right under my floorboard. i was a little nervous about the fumes and gasses so i ran with my windows down anytime i drove, it was the summer so it was no big deal. didn't notice any extra heat... but the sound is loud! not like a loud tone type loud but a very resonating loud. you wont be able to talk on a cell phone or carry on a coversation without feeling like you are screaming
I ripped off my exhaust on my 86 6.9 from the transfer case back on a big ice chunk and had to wear ear plugs when pulling the hills. The PS probably sounds better with the turbo in there.
I am running with no exhaust on my truck right now. i dont think its that loud, i wish it was louder! but as far as it hurting anything,,,, i think that stock DP would be restrickive enough for some backpressure. so the only thing i would be worried about would be the fuems. so just drive with the windows cracked and you should be fine.
Ok finally finished it.. I love it.. My 5 in isn't too loud in the cab but with the windows down you can hear that turbo wistle. I got on it afterwards and with the superchip, tymar intake, FPR shim & 5 inch exhaust I thought a cop had his sirens on. Gonna call Beans tommorow!!
