engine test question

are there any way to start a powerstroke out of the vehicle?

You would definitely need a good strong stand. Then just hook up the different required components and ingredients. You can find out a lot though by doing a compression check on the engine and by pulling the pan and checking out the contents. If the compression checks out, pull the pan, put a new oil pump in and put it in a truck or on a nice big, fast go-kart.

Without being on an engine test stand? Not very feasable without being able to plug in all the electronics.

That was my point. Plugging in the electronics and all necessary components would require a ton of work to set up. So do a compression check, check the pan contents, new oil pump and stick it back in your truck. I was kidding about the go-kart.
