I ordered up an Autometer pyro kit from Garrett at BCPD (by the way --> look for a company name change coming from him soon!!), and headed off to the store to purchase a tap for the manifold. Ran into 2 taps, not sure which one is correct. 1/8"-26 & 1//8"-27, both NPT taps. Which one do I need?
Just a suggestion...if your detail oriented (or **** as friends call me ), thread the tap in about half-way the length of the threads, then and start fitting (one complete rev at a time) for proper depth placemant of the probe. It should be fitted at 6-7 thds. down from the wide end of the tap.
Just finished up my autometer guage install/ dp chip and just got back from a test run. Yes you use the 1/8-27 with a size R drill bit. I just bought that stuff yesterday. Truck ran like a raped aped when the turbo kicked in. The only thing Im not really caring for is that it seems there is a lagging period before it gets up and goes, I dont know if it is normal or what. It seems like a dog till about 17-1800 rpm, then Holy sh**!!!
There is a such thing as letter drill bit sizes, they are all that more closer to the size that is needed for the hole. I went to my local Fastenal store and said I need a drill and tap for this 1/8" NPT fitting and they looked in the book for the tap and it gave what size drill to use with that tap (size R drill). I dont know if you have a fastenal where you are but here, it is a store that sells all kinds of tools, piping, shop supplies, specialty items. They are most shops local supplier for hardware and whatnot around here.

Thanks!! Looks like I'll be doing some searching. I'm learning new stuff here all the time.
