I'm game I would do the Luge in a heartbeat, man that would take care of the need for speed for a little while.
What about practice runs down Lombard Street in a Street Luge?
Down Powell Street between cable cars, just think if you can't stop you go splash.

Why bobsledding is an Olympic sport is a true mystery. Second only to the mystery of curling.
Watch bobsledding live, in person, once. Better yet, take Dennis up on the getting in one and running down the hill. You will get it instantly. Those sliding sports are my favourite of ANY Olympic events summer or winter. Akin to Olympic NASCAR or drag racing
Lets not be going back to the original greek style Olympics, now please. Only nude male competitiors, how would you be able to keep your supper down when watching them? Hurl
Curling is much more fun to do than watch. Gotta like them games Scotsmen invent. Drinking is almost written into the rules.

If your content riding in the back with your head down, then you just need to be really fast and strong, with a clean criminal record so you can emigrate to a bobsledding nation.[/QUOTE]
You also have to hope that the driver hasn't loaded up on chili and beer the night before.
I asked myself this same question the other night watching it. Do they have tryouts for it or what? And anyone know what it would cost to buy one of those things? Can't be cheap, theyre all fancy carbon fiber and stuff nowadays I'm sure.
magee, bier farts the rules say will be an instant disqualification as it's considered a "turbo boost advantage" if lighted as well adding lumps on the track for following competitors.
Ben, did ya check into those home brew units I posted?

Olympic bobsleds are surprisingly crude, mostly due to archaic rules and regulations about what you can and can't have. A decent sled like a Bodine will set ya back at least $30K. They sure look cool in the garage, tho'. If I can figure out how, I'll post a pick of one of the sleds I worked on.

It's got to be amazing live -- 80 MPH -- on ice. . .
Don't start making fun of curling or you'll have a lot of Canadians very angry at you.
Bobsled is very much like NASCAR in both it's good and bad points. It's very fast, and the rules are restrictive so the drivers (and pushers) make the difference. The bad point is that it's very dangerous, but some people think that's a plus as well.
hey, at least bobsledders turn boths ways!
