Okay, so this may be a useless question, but has anyone ever tried to make snow using a pressure washer?
Out here on the left coast, it, sometimes gets a dry cold that is cold enough to make a hard frost...say 25 degrees in the early morning. but this cold usually doesn't happen when a wet storm is coming through, so no snow.
I was thinking it'd be cool if my 3 yr old could get up in the morning and play in some snow, and I don't have time to take her to Tahoe for a while...and the idea hit of getting up early on a cold morn and firing up the pressure washer and adjusting it for as fine a spray as possible, and letting her rip.
It's cold enough here for it right now. 28º on my front porch and there's already frost forming. I'd try it if I had a pressure washer. Gonna be real chilly in the morning!
I think that's the heavy-duty Nature-powered unit...!
Lessee...cold, clear nights well below freezing, I've got a decent compressor, my boss has a pressure washer I'm sure he'd lend me...I might give it a shot! Sounds like fun!
We made a simpler snowmaker at work. Took a Kartcher 1500 psi electric power washer, with the rotating dirt blaster attachment. Wire tied this to a table saw angle cut adapter. Took a compressor hose and put a 1/2" cap on the end of it and drilled 3 1/16" holes in the cap lined up. Like this " ... " we slightly angled the two outer holes away from the center hole. (The holes may have been drilled out to a larger size later on.) We connected the air compressor to this and wire tied it to the other side of the saw angle maker. In less humidity we decreased the angle the two streams crossed each other. The really big shop Compressor was set at 125 psig, probably had 100 psi at the nozzle.
I can see it on the hills around us in places and we occasionally get get some down at lake level, but I haven't seen it in the last couple of years. Mostly we just get rain...and rain...and more rain...
Great! And since my wife is more apt to spoil the kid, I can now justify the purchase of a big 'ol air compressor! Now if I can convince her the kid needs a sailboat...
