I'm running Amsoil synthetic ATF in my gear box. It's been in there for 60,000 miles, and no trouble with shifting, or howling, or grinding. No leaks what so ever!! My Ranger has 110,000 on the ticker. If I had an automatic, I would be using Mercon 5, like it calls for...

I was going to change the ATF in my '98 Explorer too (5R55E) and was wondering if anyone knew how to get the oil out of the torque converter. I have a suction pump, can you run a hose into the filler tube and get all the oil out?
