vin # location

i am looking for the vin # on the chassis of a 1972 & 1979 f-series truck.where is it located?

vin # location

Garry, The vin is located on top of the passinger side frame rail, about where the front axle passes under, and again on that same rail under the cab. The number can vary a little forward or back but is generally in that area.

Hey John. Is the # under the cab on top or bottom of the frame rail?

Derek, As long as the door came on the truck the added tag is a good refference. Should there be a question the stamped vin on the frame rail will be used as absolute.
