6.4 L Problems

Guys i heard some bad news last night a friend at chevron carriers corp was in a meeting with ford enginners and he was asking about new engine since we were chatting about it the other day at the farm and he was told its been delayed they were very happy until a few weeks ago when 2 of the test fleet had catastrophic engine failures they did not elaborate but told hime they were serious failures and they were going to analize and may have to redesign some parts. He's pretty sure it was from turbos letting go and trashing engine.

And I heard that UFOs landed on your house.

How about something other than hearsay?

I think thats not likely to be true, since friends hear these things from other friends who heard it from a friend and so on.

Agreed. Will they have to pay a heavy fine for each 6.0 manufactured after 01/01/2007?

FWIW, I was at the dealer on 3/10/06.. spoke with service manager...He told me that 6.4 was supposed to go online in june or july of 06 but that the district Ford Guy was by earlier in the week and told him they were having problems and were pushing it back and admitted Ford is talking to Cummins To see about fitment issues and ability to meet demand. No UFO klanding here just what the Service manager told me.

They usually don't know what they're talking about.

Possibly. The '07 trucks sold before the actual calendar year '07 will most likely have the 6.0L.

I also heard that the spark plugs in those 6.4's were flying out, killing innocent testing engineers and that the carburators were loading up with wayyy too much fuel, causing an explosion. Seriously! I ain't kiddin!

well one thing i doubt that ford is talking to dodge about and engine because they have an exclusive contract w/ dodge and they cannot be put in any other light duty truck.

Face it FORD can't aford another 6.0 disaster. In my opinion they have to get right the first time or don't bother. Even the duramax is having trouble, so ford has a opertunity to win a few new drivers, but there is no second chance this time. It's cheaper to hold back then make another mistake.

I did not hear about that one. I'll have to check with my uncle he manages an Auto Zone and as all of you know thats where Ford really goes to by all their parts. The last time I talked to him he said they said they worked out what the problem was. It seems someone forgot to change the air in the tires it got stale and caused the wheels to turn slower. They first thought it was something to do with engine, but it's all worked out now
