You have to put the trans in drive-reverse-2nd-park-drive- 3rd- park-4Lo-2High-drive-park-reverse-3rd-1st-park. The lights should flash 3 times for 1 second each. Sometimes it helps to sacrifice a small goat if this does not work the first time. After that you remove the cab. Then you have to remove the left valve cover. Then you can see the general location where the points are. No one has yet actual found exactly where they are….

LMAO! that is great! i left you some reputation points, that was great.
well one thing i doubt that ford is talking to dodge about and engine because they have an exclusive contract w/ dodge and they cannot be put in any other light duty truck.
Yes, but don't forget that Dodge is part of Mercedes, who makes many diesel engines. And, Detroit Diesel is part of Freightliner, also a Mercedes company. Dodge has more than enough in-house talent to build a diesel for the Ram. And, if they do one day, don't be surprised to see a Cummins in the F-250 and 350.

Detroit Diesel/Allison is part of General Motors. dodge is going to be going with a mercedes diesel in the future.
i was working on a Detroit today. as a matter of fact, ive been learning about them for the past month. i am assigned to a 6V92TA.
Doesn't the Dodge/Cummins contract run out at the end of 2007??? Hmmmmm..... Dodge may be going with the Mercedes typed diesel, the Cummins is up for grabs, Fords having possible problems with the new 6.4....could lead to a Cummins in the Ford. Gotta love the speculation.
General Motors sold Detroit Diesel to Penske in 1988. Penske sold Detroit Diesel to Freightliner (Daimler-Chrysler) in 2001. G.M. still ownes Allison.
sorry, my bad. i was basing my information off of the engine's we have in our class, the 6V92's are MY1987, and at that time, the detroits still had GM written all over them. even on the cylinder liners.
well the 2007 dodge ram is a 6.7 cummins w/ 305 hp and 610 ftlbs tq there was an unveling of there new heavy duty line march first read all about it pretty slick little setup only 3500 avail right now but 45 and 5500 will be folloing i would assume.
yes i know dc has both mercedes and detroit and yes they have enough in house talent to build a very good diesel for the ram as it is now tho the cummins is still in the ram how long i don't know maybe till 09 thats when they have their next major change planned after that yeah cummins could be in a ford but also could be a chevy or an import from japan heard lots about that theory.
as far as seeing it i would love too see cummins go to ford when the contract runs out but it wouldn't bother me at all if it stayed w/ dodge. i like both ford and dodge think they are very good trucks very soild and reliable. i bought a 95 ram cummins not for the ram pickup but for the engine, i like it a little more then the powerstroke but would gladly drive a ford just never a chevy

They sure did, didn't they! I heard that the very early 60 Series Detroits in '87 had John Deere part numbers on the cast parts. The story was that G.M. was planning to merge Detroit with Deere's engine operations. Deere was supposed to supply their 5.9L 6 cylinder diesel to G.M. for medium duty trucks, and Deere had a big hand in designing the 60 Series. Wonder how much of that was true.....
I can't see Dodge dropping the Cummins even though they can produce a diesel in house. The Cummins has great name recognition that Mercedes just can't match here in the USA with most people. The Cummins name along with the Hemi have been what Dodge has been using to sell their otherwise inferior trucks for years. Why would they ruin that by switching? Ford could also produce a diesel in house, but same reasons they don't are the same reasons I beleive Dodge won't switch. The only difference is Ford produces a damn fine truck to surround an great engine.
