Speedometer
I have a 1993 f250 4x4 with a 7.5l and E40D.
The speedometer works fine until I hit 60 mph and then it goes all over the place. I recently replace the VSS sensor in the rear of the Diff, becuase the speedometer was not working and the trans was shifing hard. By replacing this, my speedometer began to work just fine while driving below 60 mph however above these speed it goes wild. The transmisson continues to shift hard (althought I do not mind) and the crusie control over 60 does not work. I checked all the internal and external fuses and all are "OK".
Do you think I need to replace the gauge cluster or the PROM or something esle I'm missing.
Look forward to your help.
The good news is that there are no codes.
reset computer by disconnecting battery.
Perfect I'll go ahead and reset computer.
did you replace rear end fluid?
I have not replace the rear end fluid..come to think about its pretty dirty...I'll do that, it needs it anyway.
did you clean ring around rear gear? that is what the ford manual says to do.
Do you mean the ring tone? if so, I have not cleanned it, but excellent advice. I will clean as soon as change the rear diff fluid. I guess it makes sense; becuase the faster you go the more fluid you kick up onto the ring and if it is dirty, it will affect the sensor by convering it with dirty fluid.
Thank you bud; I'll let you know how it goes.
Also, no codes, engine light or Transmisson errors...any ideas?
It's kind of like going to the Doc. and let them know that it hurt when I do this ____ and the doc says: just don't do that and it wont hurt... I like it.I'm just kidding bud; I certainly appreciate your help.
Thanks
