I tried the VIN decode etc, however my door plate has a blank for the Axle code.
The tag on the rear axle says the following :
S 409 H
?L73 10 5 0A31
The question mark is because most of the character is under the bolt head. Vehicle in question is a 200 SRW 2WD. I did try search but it appears to have a (rather recalcitrant) mind of its own today.
Wish someone had pointed that out to the truck last weekend :-)
I suppose my next question then is what type of LSDs do Ford fit, and what commonly stops them from working by the 200,000 mle mark ? There is absolutely no semblance of slip limiting whatsoever, nothing.
I read somewhere that in order for it to work at all both tires need to be turning (truck moving), only then will it let some power go to both. Once you are stuck it only sends power to the slipping wheel. Seems to be the case in mine (90 f-350 with over 300,000 on rear end). If the truck is not moving I spin one wheel only, but if I'm moving slow in the grass I leave 2 strips when I really get on it.
